We live in a society that amplifies society’s obsession with unrealistic cultural models of perfection. Here, the bathroom mirror has been shattered. It will be discarded and then replaced. Hughes is interested in exposing the beauty in imperfection. The glass panel blurs the vision – it creates interference, acknowledging that reflections are constantly changing, as are our interpretations of them.
